What are the symptoms of ear infections?

Ear infections are very common in children. It can affect the inner, outer and middle ear. It can also affect some adults. But, their symptoms and consequences can be severe. The infections of children can reduce quickly, but adult infections are often a sign of a deeper problem

The ear infection can be caused by a lot of factors, including the viruses and bacteria that enter the ear from nasal passages, the mouth or the eyes. Mostly, the infections occur in the outer and middle ear. It may occur some rashes or redness and swell in the outer ear areas. Inner ear problems are a serious ear problem, but it occurs very rarely.

Symptoms of ear infection :  

1. Tenderness around or behind the ear.

Tenderness is a common symptom of ear infection. A tenderness occurs when you touch the skin around or behind the ear.

2. Swelling of the ear :

Swelling is another symptom of ear infection. In the ear infection, swelling occurs on the skin around or behind the ear.

3. Hearing problem :

Some infections may be irritable, fussy, or have a hearing loss. Hearing loss is a condition in which the ability to hear is reduced.

4. Rapture of eardrum :

Some ear infection may cause the eardrum to rupture. In this situation, the pus drains from the middle ear into the ear canal. Mostly, the hole in the eardrum from the rupture usually heals without any medical treatment.

5. A headache :

A headache is one of the most common medical complaints which experience by most of the people at some point in their life. It is a pain that affects your head or neck. A severe ear infection may cause a headache.

6. Ringing in ears ( Tinnitus ) :  

Some people with an ear infection may have ringing in ears or tinnitus. A tinnitus is hearing sound in your ears not due to an external source that no one around you can hear. The noise is often described as ringingbuzzing, clicking, or rushing.

7. Feels plugged up :

Some people with an ear infection, feel a sensation of fullness in the ear, muffled hearing and discomfort created by a difference in air pressure between the ear canal and the middle ear space.

8. Fever :

Most people with ear infection have a fever. A fever is a body temperature that is higher than normal 98.6 F (37 C).
