Dry Eyes || Its Cause, Symptom & Prevention

Dry Eyes is a common disease in today life. It occurs due to the tears system in out of whack. You may notice that when you see anything then your eyelids blink in few seconds. It provides moisture and lubricate that help you to see and makes your eyes fresh.

Use of Tears :-

Tears is a mixture of water, oils, mucus, special protein and antibodies. Water helps to provide moisture of eyes. Oil helps for provide lubrication. Mucus provides spreading. Antibodies and special proteins keep from infection.

When tears don’t provides enough moisture, you may notice :-

  1.  Itching
  2.  A gritty feeling
  3.  Blurry vision
  4. Redness
  5. Irritation

Sometimes, dry eyes creates too much tears, which is called reflex tearing. It happens due to a lack of moisture in your eyes.


Cause :-

  1. Computer
  2. Watching T.V without break
  3. Side effects of certain drugs
  4. Reading
  5. Aging
  6. Environmental factors

Prevention :-

Here are some simple and easy way that help you to prevent your eyes :-

Rest your eyes :-

Computer use, watching T.V. , frequently reading… etc. can make your eyes dry. So rest your eyes so that it may  moisturize.

Wear sun-glass :-

Before going in a sunny day, must wear sun glass. It helps you to protect your eyes from dust.

Stay away from smoking :-

Smoke can increase the risk of dry eyes.

Avoid lots of air place :-

Avoid a lots of air place like fans, cooler, hair dryer etc.

Make eye exercise daily :-

Yoga or Exercise is the best treatment for fitness. It helps to make your body healthy and fit naturally. Yoga of eyes helps you to improve blood circulation. It keep your tiredness and puffiness away thereby reducing dry eyes.

Eye Rotation :-

In this exercise, rotate your eyes in clock-wise and anti clock-wise direction.

Benefit :-
  • Reduce any diseases of eye.
  • Idle for those who expand more time in front of Computer and T.V.

Procedure :-

  • Take a yoga mat.
  • Sit down comfortably in Padmasana.
  • Now, start to move your eyes in a clock-wise direction.
  • Do this process at least 5 times.
  • Now, move your eyes in an anti clock-wise direction.
  • Do this process at least 5 times.
  • Now, close your eyes at least 2 minutes.

Take healthy food diet :-

Maintaining a good and balanced food diet helps in reducing the risk of getting suffered from most of the diseases. So is the case of eye health. By providing essential food nutrients to eye in the form of  diet we can reduce the risk of eye diseases. In today’s world we all are busy in consuming western foods that are rich in calories and not paying any heed to necessary food intake. These western foods leads to serious health problems including loss of vision.

Orange colored fruits

Fruits and vegetables like Mangoes, Carrots, Apricots, Sweet potatoes etc. contains beta-carotene (Vitamin A) which gives these foods their orange color. It also helps in adjusting our eyes in darkness. They are also useful in providing a clear night vision. Also they help retina and and other eye parts to work smoothly. Regular consumption of these orange colored fruits lowers the risk of Cataract.

Care your eyes :-

Eyes have been the ‘center of beauty’ since ancient era. Eye-to-eye  contact is the best way of conversation. Clean and bright eyes help you to increase your confidence.

Neem :-
  • Take few crushed Neem Leaves.
  • Add some water in it.
  • Apply this paste on your eyes with cotton swab.
  • Leave it for 15 minutes.
  • After that wash your face.
