Endometriosis is a painful condition in which the layer of tissue that normally covers inside of your uterus grows outside of it. It is an abnormal growth of cells (endometrial cells).

Mostly, it found on other organs of the pelvis. It is common in those women who are experiencing infertility than in fertile women.

Main symptoms are pelvic pain and infertility. Approx 50% have chronic pelvic pain while approx 70% pain generate in during menstruation. The pain also occurs during sex. Some women may have painful urinary or bowel symptoms. While 20% of women have no symptoms.

Causes :

Yet the exact reason of it is not found. Some possible explanations include :

  • Surgical scar implantation
  • Retrograde menstruation
  • Embryonic cell transformation
  • Transformation of peritoneal cells
  • Immune system disorder
  • Endometrial cells transport

Risk Factors :  

Here are some risk factors that may generate it, are :

  • Never giving birth
  • Have low body mass index
  • High consumption of fats
  • Period start at an early age
  • Excess smoking or drinking
  • Going through menopause at an older age
  • Short menstrual cycles
  • Genetic history especially mother or sister
  • Any medical condition that prevents the normal passage of menstrual flow
  • Uterine abnormalities

Symptoms :

  • Constipation
  • Nausea
