Common reasons that may cause your hair dry, damaged and brittle…
Dry and damaged hair can be caused by a number of factors, including- medication, genetics, and something as simple as the weather condition. Sometimes you get your hair dry and damaged because your scalp doesn’t make enough oil to moisturize your hair, or your hair lets moisture escape.
This is why your hair gets dry and damaged !!
In this article, we share all-too-common causes of damaged and dry hair.
The Environmental Factors :
Your environment plays an important role to make your hair dry and damaged. Overexposure to the sun, extreme heat, cold winds, and low humidity can all take a toll on your hair. If you reside in a tropical climate, chances are you spend a lot of time outdoors in chlorinated water as well, i.e. notorious for its drying effect on your hair.
Excess Use of Heat Styling Tools :
Today curly hair makes the center of beauty. The people with straight hair use heat style tools to make it curly. But using these styling tools every day may be doing more harm than good to your hair. Applying too much heat when hair styling is a major factor of dry, breakage, damaged and dull looking. If you notice your hair is dry, brittle, and full of split ends no matter how often you get trims, your styling tools might be too blame.
An excess wash of your hair :
Do you shampoo your hair too much, not enough, or just the right amount? It varies from person to person, but two to three times in a week is ideal for most. Most people have the habit to shampoo daily. Maintaining proper hair hygiene is important, but washing your hair too often can strip it of its natural oils. It leads to both itchy scalp and dry hair. Too little shampooing can have a similar effect, allowing oils and products to build up and block natural oils from being released.
Some medications may cause dry or thinning hair including-
- acne medications
- antifungal medications
- chemotherapy drugs
- high blood pressure medication
- weight loss drugs
- gout medication
When you get the symptoms of dry and damaged hair, talk to your physician about your concerns, symptoms, and possible alternatives.
Your chemical style :
Do you use a chemical style like the chemically curled, straightened, or colored of your hair? Colored hair attracts everyone. Many women love to color their hair. Damaged porous hair absorbs too much color. So if you are using the same dye you’ve always used but seen a completely different result, your hair is damaged.
Family hierarchy is one of the most important factors of dry and damaged hair. If your family has suffered from any of the types in past, then you are most likely to develop it.
