What are the sign and symptoms of swollen labia?
The vagina is one of the very sensitive parts of your body. Labia, also called vaginal lips, are located on the vulva ( the exterior part of woman’s genitals ). It gives protection to the clitoris, vagina, and urethra from infection and damage.
There are two pairs of labia :
- Labia majora: on the outside of the vagina
- Labia minora: the inner folds of skin that lead to the vagina.
Almost every woman, vaginal swelling may happen from time to time. There are many conditions that cause swollen labia, including :
- sexually transmitted infections(STIs)
- intercourse (sex).

Sign and symptoms:-
The following symptoms may suggest an infection or another underlying medical problem:
Genital itching :
Genital itching can be a sign of vaginal swelling. It may occur due to some types of cloth irritate the skin and cause vaginal irritation and swelling. Some products that come into the contact with your vagina can cause irritation. they are :
- Toilet paper
- Laundry detergent
- Body wash
Bump on the labia :
Gentle exfoliation of the skin help to get rid of ingrown hairs. Sebaceous cysts are caused by a blocked sebaceous gland (oil gland in the skin). Generally, it occurs in the vulva and appears as a small, hard lump, which is generally painless.
Burning in the vaginal area :
Sometimes vaginal lips often swell and can be quite sore and burn. It may be caused by allergy or vaginal discharge.
Pain in the vaginal area :
Many women have pain and discomfort in the vulva ( the area comprising the external genitals in women ) at some point in life. Vulvar pain affects the area of the labia, clitoris, and vaginal opening.
