Jaw pain is a common problem affecting millions of the people in the world. In most cases, the patient affected with jaw pain has not able to eat and speak. There is no any certain cause of this pain but has many possible causes. It may be related to any physical injury, nerves problems, blood vessel problems or any medical treatment. Child bearing women may be also affected from jaw pain.
Most of the jaw pains are comes due to abnormality or injury to the joint of your jaw. But there are some other possible causes as well.
Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) :
The most common jaw pains are cause by Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). It may cause by the pain from the muscles that control jaw movement. Sometimes, it injury to the jaw joint. According to a survey, women of childbearing age are most commonly affected by this disease.
Sinus are air-filled cavities located close to the jaw joint. It is an abnormal cavity, caused by the destruction of tissue. Sinusitis is an inflammation of one or more of the sinus cavities. Healthy sinuses are filled with air, but when they become blocked & filled with fluid then germs can grow and it cause an infection. According to a new survey, 90% adults which are affected to sinus infection, are caused by a virus infection.
Arthritis is a very common disease that may occur in people of all ages, sex & races. In fact, it is not a single disease. In general people understand arthritis as joint pain in knees but is much more than that. It is the leading cause of disability in USA.
Stress is a state of mental or emotional strain. It is a difficulty that cause worry or emotional tension. The situation or presser that causes stress are known as stressors.
Brittle teeth :
Brittle teeth is one of the sign of dental aging. It is the condition in which your teeth loose their strength and splits into layers. Such teeth breaks easily and get pain. They could crack and fall without any reason or impact. It can occur at any age.

Home Remedies :
Use ice pack :
Cold pack on the jaw helps relieve muscle pain.
- Take some ice cube.
- Wrap it in a thin cloth.
- Apply the ice pack to the affected area.
- Leave it for 10 minutes.
Take a break for 10 minutes before reapplying the ice pack.
Apply warm moist heat :
Apply warm moist heat to the side of your face may also help alleviate jaw pain.
- Take a bowl.
- Add warm water in it.
- Take a cotton towel.
- Soak the towel in warm water.
- Wring out the excess water.
- Apply this warm moist towel to your face.
- Leave it for for 10 to 15 minutes.
Repeat this process every 2 hours until the pain is gone.
Massage on the affected area :
Massage Therapy is a type of technique, in which different type of massage are given that usually depends on your needs as well as your physical condition. It is a manual manipulation of soft body tissue like muscle, connective tissues, tendons e.t.c. to enhance a persons health. This therapy is a famous type of optional remedy that is the combination of science and arts. This therapy is used from years to reduce weight lose, Stress, relief from pain, increase relaxation, address anxiety, depression, mental health, cancer, HIV/AIDS and helps in blood circulation in the body.
- Take a bowl.
- Add some olive oil in it.
- Warm it.
- Apply it on your jawline.
- Massage the area by using your index and middle finger by circular motions.
- Do it for 5 minutes.
- Take a break for few seconds.
- Try to open and close your mouth.
- Do it for 3 to 5 times.
Repeat this process a few times a day.
Holy basil ( Tulsi )
- Take a Bowl.
- Add some Leave of Ram Tulsi, Shyam Tulsi, Nimbu tulsi, Vishnu Tulsi and Van Tulsi in it.
- Keep them in the sun for a few hours.
- Once they are dry, grind them into grinder.
- You can also mix mustard oil with dry leaves of Basil and massage the teeth.
Use salt water rinse :
Salt water is very effective in jaw pains. Its antiseptic and antibacterial properties helps to reduce inflammation and get reliaf in pain.
- Take a glass of lukewarm water.
- Add half teaspoon of salt in it.
- Mix it well or until the salt dissolves completely.
- Rinse your mouth with this water.
Do this process 2 or 3 times a day to reduce your pain.
Neem is rich in vitamin C and E content and is full of medical property. It is one of the two species in the genus of Azadirachta. In ancient times when there were no tooth paste and toothbrush, people used to grind neem’s branch and grind it.
- Neem Bark Powder – 2 pinch
- Scrub the neem bark powder on your teeth.
- After that, wash your mouth well.
