Sinus Infection || Its Types, Cause, Symptom & Remedy

Sinus is an abnormal cavity, caused by the destruction of tissue. Sinusitis is an inflammation of one or more of the sinus cavities.  Healthy sinuses are filled with air, but when they become blocked & filled with fluid then germs can grow and it cause an infection. According to a new survey, 90% adults which are affected to sinus infection, are caused by a virus infection.

Types :-

There are three types of sinus infections. They are :-

  1. Viral sinusitis
  2. Bacterial sinusitis
  3. Allergic sinusitis
  4. Chronic inflammation

Viral sinusitis :-

Sinusitis that are viral, typically resolves in 7-10 days. In this infection, antibiotics are not effective. The people affected with this infection, feels cold-like, including runny nose, sore throat, nasal congestion, sneezing, and coughing.

Bacterial sinusitis :-

Sinusitis that are caused by bacteria, typically resolves in 10-14 days. This sinusitis include nasal discharge that may be thick, and yellow or green.

Allergic sinusitis :-

Sinusitis that are caused by allergy, its symptom are – itchy nose, throat, or eyes, postnasal drip e.t.c.

Chronic inflammation :-

Chronic inflammation symptoms last 12 weeks or longer.

Cause :-

There are many cause of this infection. Some of the common cause are :-

  • Virus infection
  • Bacteria infection
  • Pollution may be the cause of sinus
  • Fungi in the air.
  • Allergy
  • Common cold

Symptom :-

  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Pain around your eyes or cheekbones
  • Swelling in face
  • Headache
  • Stress
  • Fever
  • sensitivity to light
  • Tooth pain

Natural Remedy :-

Herbal Tea :-

The use of Herbal Tea is perfect for stress. It helps to release healthy properties of antioxidants. It should be used regularly as powerful remedy for it.

Turmeric :-

Turmeric is an ayurvedic herb. Its biological name is Curcumin . It has wide uses in our daily life. Alleppey turmeric comes from Kerala, especially from the region of Thodupuzha and Muvattupuzha taluks. It is characterized by deep orange to yellow in color and has high curcumin, up to 6.5 %. U.S. has a special preference to Alleppey Finger Curucumin, where it is used as food colorant preferred for curcumin extraction.  In Ayurveda, turmeric is used in medicine.

Needs :-

  1. Turmeric – half teaspoon
  2. Milk

Process :-

  • Take a bowl.
  • Add milk and turmeric in it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Take it daily for several weeks or until you see improvement.

Ginger :-

According to research, ginger helps to impact hormones and regulate inflammation in blood vessels in the brain. It helps to reduce your sinus.

Needs :-

  1. A piece of raw ginger root
  2. 1 cup water

Method :-

  • Take a pan.
  • Add the water in it.
  • Now, add crushed ginger in it.
  • Now, boil it.
  • You may add a pinch of salt in it.
  • Now, filter it.
  • Drink this ginger tea few times throughout the day until you get relief.
